7th PRIORITY: CITIZENS AND GOVERNANCE
IN THE EUROPEAN KNOWLEDGE BASED SOCIETY
The Lisbon European Council recognised that the transition towards a European
knowledge-based society will affect every aspect of people’s lives. The overall
objective is to provide a sound knowledge base for the management of this
transition, which will be conditioned by national, regional and local policies,
programmes and actions, as well as informed decision making by individual
citizens, families and other societal unit
