LNF: PRECISION LABORATORY TESTS OF NEWTON'S INVERSE-SQUARE LAW AND EINSTEIN'S EQUIVALENCE PRINCIPLE
LABORATORI NAZIONALI DI FRASCATI
Speaker: Eric Adelberger Modern theoretical frameworks for unifying gravity with the other fundamental interactions typically suggest that Einstein's equivalence principle and Newton's inverse-square law may not be exact. I will discuss the basic methods, fudamental limitations and recent results of ultra-sensitive mechanical experiments that probe both of these "sacred principles". The null results of these tests have far-reaching implications ranging from the gravitational properties of anti-matter to the possibility of large "extra" dimensions and new physics below the milli-eV scale.
