MIB: INFINITE-DIMENSIONAL SYMMETRY AND BMS SUPERTRANSLATIONS AT THE BLACK HOLE HORIZON

GASTON GIRIBET,Universidad de Buenos Aires e ULB: In this talk I will discuss the asymptotic symmetries in the near horizon region of non-extremal black holes, which turn out to be generated by an infinite-dimensional algebra. The set of charges associated to such symmetries happens to obey the same algebra, yielding an infinite number of conservation laws. This algebra contains both supertranslation and superrotation transformations. The connection with the so-called Bondi-Metzner-Sachs (BMS) algebra will be discussed.
