INFN Colloquia: Seminario interdisciplinare di Thors Hans Hansson (NORDITA, Stockholm) Abstract: I will explain the work of David Thouless, Duncan Haldane and Michael Kosterlitz that led to the 2016 Nobel Prize in physics. The talk is aimed at a general audience of PhD students and researchers which do not specialize in condensed matter physics.
