GE: DISCRIMINATION OF THE SPIN OF DARK MATTER CANDIDATES AT THE LHC
SEZIONE DI GENOVA
(E. Santopinto) Seminario di Fenomenologia delle particelle elementari, nella prima metà divulgativo. Evento congiunto con l'Universita' di Genova. Speaker:Luca Panizzi (GE) The discovery of signatures compatible with dark matter candidates at the LHC would be a revolutionary milestone for particle physics and cosmology. A discovery, however, would require a deep understanding of the properties of the new state, in order to embed it into a theoretically motivated scenario of new physics. I will explore the possibility to distinguish and characterise the spin of dark matter candidates at the LHC in different scenarios. I will consider the effective field theory approach and simplified models and show how in some scenarios the DM spin can be partly correlated with the shape of relevant kinematic distributions.
