GE: FEYNMAN DIAGRAMS AND HIGHER-GENUS SURFACES
 ELENCO COMPLETO

DATA: 05-12-2018

SEZIONE DI GENOVA
(E.Santopinto) Seminario di Fenomenologia delle particelle elementari, nella prima metà divulgativo. Evento congiunto con l'Universita' di Genova. Speaker: Dr Lorenzo Tancredi (CERN) Feynman diagrams are our most direct window into (perturbative) Quantum Field Theory (pQFT). On the one hand, their calculation is essential to extract most physical predictions from the Standard Model. On the other, the study of their mathematical properties provides us with a glimpse onto the most general structures that can appear in all-order perturbative Quantum Field Theory. In this seminar, I will elaborate on recent developments in the analytic calculation of Feynman integrals, focusing in particular on some geometrical aspects which are behind the definition of general classes of special functions which appear in their calculations. In the long run, some of these new ideas could pave the way to a new understanding of pQFT.
