A pact to develop in five years some highly technological research in the field of physics applied to energy.
The agreement was signed by the Presidents of Ansaldo Nuclear, the engineer Francesco Mazzuca, and of the National Institute for Nuclear Physics, Professor Roberto Petronzio.
This is a collaboration that will involve two great entities from the productive and scientific spheres of the country, Ansaldo Nuclear, a company controlled by Ansaldo Energy in the context of the Finmeccanica group, and the National Institute for Nuclear Physics.
The research lines involve various sectors: detectors of nuclei, particles and radiations; ion and particle accelerators; physical models for applicational simulations; high and professional training. The aspect of training for the creation of specific competencies in the country and of greater professional openings for the personnel trained in research becomes even more important. A mixed task force will be in charge of defining the connected activities and to pinpoint further questions to be developed in the course of work.
Ansaldo Nuclear S.p.A. was founded in November 2005 by the Ansaldo Energy company and it was put in charge of all activities related to the nuclear sector. Their objective is to pursue in the best possible way the growth of the trading volume in the three strategic segments of the new plants, of the decommissioning and of the radwaste treatment, of the service on the working nuclear plants. In particular they are working towards the development of new technologies in the field of the securities of the plants.
The National Institute for Nuclear Physics promotes, coordinates and carries out scientific research in the field of nuclear, sub nuclear, astro-particular physics and of fundamental interactions, as well as the research and technological development necessary for the activity in such sectors. It promotes and participates in collaborations in the matter of study and research with entities, organisations and companies and it is able to offer competencies, instrumental means and patents.
