The Italian National Institute for Nuclear Physics (INFN) will coordinate HadronPhysics3, a large European project financed by the European Commission (EC). HadronPhysics3, aims to integrate, on a European scale, the main research facilities and associated activities, to promote a coordinated development and use for hadronic physics.
The organizations participating in HadronPhysics3 form a consortium of 49 beneficiaries from 17 Member States and Associated States. Other 118 institutions (from countries such as Russia, China, India, Japan and the U.S.) will participate to the activities (without receiving funding from the EC). Overall, the HadronPhysics3 project involves 2500 researchers from 35 countries. The total budget amounts to 10M over 3 year. The project was selected within the Seventh Framework Programme (FP7) of the European Union for Integrating Activities.
HadronPhysics3, (project coordinator Carlo Guaraldo of National Laboratories of Frascati, INFN), is the largest European scientific project funded by the EC, in terms of size of the consortium and number of scientists involved.
