The Communications Office designs and implements initiatives for the public throughout Italy. Their goal is to nourish public interest in and awareness of the value of basic research in physics and the technological applications that emerge from research with social utility. Exhibitions, show-lectures, meetings for school, teaching laboratories, and edutainment for children and young people, training and refresher initiatives for teachers provide a chance to experiment with new languages and formats and reach some of the most diverse audiences. These range from teachers to students, from the general public of cultural events and festivals, to science enthusiasts. The public engagement strategy can be defined as a set of actions for disseminating scientific culture with the involvement of the public. It is focused on promoting the production of scientific knowledge by the INFN community, the technological and economic impact of the research and its infrastructure, the power of the scientific method in producing knowledge and culture, and science as an area for intercultural dialogue and exchange. The website https://collisioni.infn.it/ is dedicated to INFN’s exhibitions and cultural initiatives, including events and projects with schools. Here, you can find all current and upcoming initiatives, as well as an archive of events put on in the past, and an introduction to all the planned shows.
