SANDRA MALVEZZI ELECTED MEMBER OF INFN EXECUTIVE BOARD

Sandra Malvezzi 2 2023During the meeting of 27 October, INFN Directors’ Board Council elected Sandra Malvezzi, current director of the Milano Bicocca INFN Division, as a member of INFN Executive Board. Malvezzi will succeed Chiara Meroni, starting from the conclusion of her mandate.

Sandra Malvezzi, married with two children, is director of research at INFN, and current director of Milan Bicocca INFN Division, as well as a member of the PhD Teaching Board in Physics and Astronomy of the University of Milan Bicocca. She carried out her research activity in the field of experimental physics of elementary particles, in particular in the study of flavor physics, through high statistical precision measurements in the Heavy Flavor field and the E687/E831 experiments at the Tevatron accelerator at Fermilab in Chicago, USA, and in the CMS experiment at the CERN LHC accelerator in Geneva. She worked in flavor physics also through the observation of solar neutrinos, in the CTF and Borexino experiments at the INFN Gran Sasso National Laboratories. In the CMS experiment, to which she still collaborates, she also worked on the physics of the Higgs boson. Over the years she has held coordination roles in various experiments and in national and international scientific and evaluation and selection committees. She has always dedicated time and energy to dissemination, collaborating in the organization of exhibitions and events, holding seminars in schools and public conferences.
