THE UN PROCLAIMS 2024-2033 THE DECADE OF SCIENCE FOR SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT

During the 96th plenary meeting of its 77th session, which was held on 25 August 2023, the United Nations General Assembly decided to adopt the resolution to proclaim 2024-2033 International Decade of Science for Sustainable Development. The goal of the initiative is to offer a unique opportunity for humanity to take advantage of the essential role that science plays in pursuing sustainable development, as one of the main means for implementing and responding to the complex challenges of our time, and thus ensuring the conditions for a safe and prosperous future for everyone. The resolution is strongly supported by all the countries and scientific institutions that participated in the International Year of Basic Sciences for the Sustainable Development, IYBBSD, 2022-2023, including Italy and INFN.
